RGENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Am186TMER and Am188TMER microcontrollers are
part of the AMD E86™ family of embedded
Dmicrocontrollers and microprocessors based on the
(PIO) pins on one chip. Compared to the 80C186/
80C188 microcontrollers, the Am186ER and
Am188ER microcontrollers enable designers to reduce
x86 architecture. The Am186ER and Am188ER the size, power consumption, and cost of embedded
microcontrollers are the ideal upgrade for designs sy stems, whil e inc reasi ng functional ity and
r e q u i r i n g 8 0 C 1 8 6 / 8 0 C 1 8 8 m i c r o c o n t r o l l e r performance.
